TASTY LIAISONS

11th edition of the Night of Museums - Theme of  the light  - Fabre Museum – Montpellier-2015.

 

 

Two multisensory workshops on colored light and its perception echoing the two visits.

Light in Orientalism, and Clair obscur.

 

Scenography question:  Food and Neuroscience. This question is inspired by research in "Gastronomic" by Gordon M. Sherpa, professor of neurobiology at Yale University. In essence, everything that accompanies a meal besides the food itself contributes to the perception of flavors.

 

  ORIENTALISM

Protocol:  colored light and  perception 

Visitors are immersed in a red atmosphere, inactinic light, they are invited to draw a pattern from reproductions of moucharabieh on photo paper.  They will leave with their drawing in a red envelope. When it is opened to natural light, their design will be destroyed.

 

 

CLAIR DARK

Protocol  : Visitors are immersed in a black light and invited to taste a world of micro-plants. Fascinating tastes, surprising shapes and colors, coming from the  Worldwide: Japan, India, Korea, China, Africa, Egypt, Italy, Middle East, North America, South America.

Nine varieties are offered  : Piros cress with basil taste, Tahoon cress with nut taste, truffles, mushrooms, Shiso Purple with cumin taste, Shiso green with mint taste, anise, Sechuan cress with sparkling, electric and anesthetic taste, Sakura cress with horseradish taste, black radish, Mustard cress with horseradish taste, wasabi, Ghoa cress with citrus taste, coriander, Rage cress with iodized taste, oyster, cucumber, Atsina cress with sweet anise taste, touch of licorice, Honny cress with sweet-honey taste.

 

Participants enter a darkened room, all natural light is obscured.  They are invited to sit in groups of 2, facing each other. Between them, a table on which are placed several cups and two glasses of water. On three cups are arranged a micro plant each time different, then on a fourth a square of chocolate 80  %. 

One person is blindfolded, and the other invites him to taste by bringing the food to his mouth, then the roles are reversed.
